Apple Cider Vinegar Weight Loss Diet (How To Guide)

Apple cider vinegar has a lot of benefits like detoxing your system and improving your hair. One of the biggest reasons why ACV is so popular is because it can help you lose weight.

You should first know that there isn’t a ton of research that has clearly found that apple cider vinegar will make you lose fat. If you have a scan around Google, you won’t find much.

There simply hasn’t been that much research into it yet. But apple cider vinegar and weight loss has grown tremendously in recent years, so hopefully there will be more studies done.

The most promising and concrete news of ACV and weight loss is a study done by the Journal of Functional Foods, where they found that apple cider vinegar reduced blood glucose levels.

The participants who drank 1 oz of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water had lower blood glucose levels compared to participants who didn’t drink ACV.

Lower blood glucose levels means less storage of fat. The reason the apple cider vinegar drinking participants had lower blood glucose levels is thought to be because the acetic acid in ACV blocks the absorption of starch. And when you limit the digestion of starch in your body, you are also limiting your body from storing fat.

Which means ACV can help you shed weight. In a nutshell, apple cider vinegar interrupts the breakdown of starches that you digest, which means less of it will go into your blood stream as blood glucose, and if it’s not in your blood stream, it cannot be stored as fat in your body.

You can look at it like eating and not gaining weight (though it’s not as straight forward as that).

You want to make sure you aren’t having and adverse side effects. It’s not likely you will. ACV is regular ingredient like so many other ingredients that most people have no issues with.


The easiest way to lose weight using apple cider vinegar is to drink that baby! I know the first time I tried apple cider vinegar I spoon fed it to myself. It tasted pretty gross but it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. If you can tolerate the taste, then spoon feeding it is easy as pie.

The other way to get apple cider vinegar in your diet is to use it in your cooking. I prefer to drizzle vinegar on top of my foods and not cook it too much if I don’t have to. My main way of getting vinegar in my diet is to create my own salad dressings.
